If you are a pedestrian or cyclist and are hit by a car, your own car insurance will pay for your medical bills assuming you own a vehicle.  If you don’t own your own vehicle, you can typically have the at fault party’s car insurance pay for your medical bills.  Also, your own health insurance, if you have it, will pay once the car insurance is exhausted.
