Do I have a Personal Injury Case if I was Walking or Biking?

I get a lot of calls from people who are either pedestrians or runners or even cyclists who are riding their bicycle or running and got hit by a car and they ask me what their rights are. Well, the first thing is if you get hit by a car and you own your own vehicle you can go after your own car insurance for what’s called your PIP Benefits, personal injury protection, that will pay for the first $10,000 of your medical bills. If you don’t own a car and there are different circumstances involved with this, you could potentially go after the other cars PIP insurance to pay for that $10,000. In addition, you can go after their bodily injury coverage or their liability coverage to pay you for your pain and suffering and additional future medical bills and such like that. So, you can recover against them even if you’re walking or running or riding your bicycle. Hopefully, this was helpful and you get some information about what to do after an accident if you’re a pedestrian or cyclist. If you have any further questions feel free to give me a call, we’re happy to help.
