According to the National Highway Safety Administration, nearly 700,000 hit and run accident cases are reported each year in the United States. Hit and run accidents account for almost 11% of all vehicle accidents. Florida ranks third in the nation in the amount of hit and run accidents with nearly 3,300 occurring annually. Pedestrian Accidents

A recent study found that Florida is the least safe state for pedestrians. The greater Orlando area is the deadliest urban center for pedestrians. More than 550 pedestrians were killed in the last 10 years alone. The greater Tampa, Jacksonville, and Miami areas rounded out the top four most dangerous metropolitan areas for pedestrians. Florida Law Regarding Dog Bites

In April of 2011, in Homestead, Florida, a 7-year-old boy shielded both his younger brother and a friend while being attacked by a German Shepherd. The boys were outside playing when a guard dog from a business in the area escaped and attacked the boys.
